What we collect

We collect the minimum information needed to run Babeename: your phone number in international format, used as your account identity and to deliver one-time passcodes over WhatsApp or SMS; the one-time passcode itself (stored only as a salted cryptographic hash, never in plain text); a reference to each payment you make (transaction ID, amount, package purchased — never your card or wallet details, which are handled entirely by our payment provider); the name preferences and any birth details you enter to generate name suggestions; and basic technical data such as device type, browser, and access logs, used for security and reliability.

How we use it

We use this information to verify it's really you (via the one-time code sent to your phone), to generate and refine culturally-informed name suggestions, to track your remaining name-generation attempts after a purchase, to process payments and prevent fraud, to respond when you contact us, and to improve the accuracy and cultural relevance of our suggestions. We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data to build third-party advertising profiles.

Retention

We keep your account and phone number for as long as your account is active. One-time passcodes are short-lived and are deleted automatically once used or expired. Payment transaction records are kept for as long as required by Sri Lankan financial record-keeping and tax regulations. If you close your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to keep it for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention reasons.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct anything that's inaccurate, or delete your account and its associated data. You can also ask us to stop contacting you for anything other than essential account and service messages. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below — we'll respond within a reasonable time.
